Restore-Rite is a division of New Enterprises, a wholesale company serving lumber yards, paint and hardware stores in California for more than 30 years. After hearing many stories from customers unhappy with the results of their wood restoration projects using available epoxies, the call to create a more effective system became evident. Developed in response is Restore-Rite’s StrongBond Wood Restoration System. Using the latest scientific processes to achieve long-lasting results, the StrongBond System repairs and restores old-growth wood faster and better than competitors’ systems. First introduced in 2019, Restore-Rite originally offered a penetrating Sealer and a paste Filler. In 2023 StrongBond epoxies were reformulated to be among the strongest available, with structural values similar to the strength of concrete. The products also were repackaged to highlight the new Zero-VOC formula and user-friendly 1:1 mixing ratio. That year the StrongBond System was enhanced with the addition of a high-strength hand-moldable Putty filler and automatic-mixing Dual Cartridges of the Sealer and Filler.
As more people realize Restore-Rite’s StrongBond epoxies get the job done days before other brands its popularity among DIY homeowners, professional contractors and painters continues to grow. Until recently Restore-Rite products could only be purchased through dealers in California. What is the main problem you solve for customers?
When old-growth wood is damaged or decayed it’s usually a huge mistake to replace it with modern farmed wood, which rots a lot faster. Naturally rot-resistant old-growth wood will last 10 times longer. The StrongBond System is the most efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective choice to repair and restore the wood you love.
How are your epoxies better than other brands?
Many people are still using wood repair systems developed 40 or more years ago. Unfortunately, some of these old systems use epoxies that pollute the air, require time-consuming extra steps, or quickly overheat. People are often unaware that some epoxies contain 70% solvents and only 30% epoxy. Solvents emit stinky toxic fumes that endanger workers’ health and pollute environmental air quality. They also delay finishing a project because until the solvents evaporate —which can take days or as long as a week — the repaired wood can’t be painted without bubbling. Low-odor Restore-Rite products are 100% epoxy.
Other old wood restoration systems involve extra steps that prolong the application process. Their Zero-VOC sealers are too thick to penetrate as deep as super-thin StrongBond Sealer. In order to sufficiently strengthen the wood, thicker epoxies require workers to drill holes in the wood every few inches and fill them with additional sealer. Restore-Rite’s thinner, more efficient StrongBond Sealer quickly wicks into deep crevices as thin as a human hair, strengthening and revitalizing the wood’s durability from the inside out – with less time and effort.
Some old systems use epoxy sealers that have a 2:1 mixing ratio. If not applied within 10 minutes of mixing, the epoxy gets hot and starts to bubble and smoke. All Restore-Rite epoxies have an easy-to-use 1:1 mixing ratio. And customers who want to eliminate the possibility of the runaway chemical reaction that can occur from incorrectly mixing any epoxy will appreciate the peace of mind that comes with using the Dual Cartridges of Sealer and Filler. Each cartridge comes with 2 static mixing nozzles that automatically mix the product in exact ratio for them.
